Academics with Value Education
Ramakrishna Mission Shishumandir is the name of a spiritual, ethical, social, cultural and perfect temple of knowledge, where tradition and modernity amalgamate. Classes: The school runs from nursery to Standard II. Infrastructure: The School has two big buildings containing spacious and airy twenty classrooms; it also has a wide verandah. There is a fun house too which is full of various funny toys where small children spend a happy time in their game period. In front of the school there is a vast playground full of green grass and tall trees. There is a sound system room which plays soul soothing devotional songs for students. There is facility of pure and fresh RO water for drinking. Neat and clean toilets and bathrooms with excessive water are separately available for the students. A library serves educational need of children in leisure. The school start with the morning prayer and moral lessons are also taught to the students at this time. Students are taught clean disciplinary habits. Teaching method: English is taught as the first language and Bengali or Hindi is taught as the second language. Spoken English is compulsory.
Sports and Physical Education
Physical education has been undertaken as a regular activity. Every day after the morning prayer there is physical training period. Trained teachers help the students to perform some free hand exercise. There are also extra classes for physical training. Sports: Usually all the students play in the playground at the time of their tiffin break but they have extra period for sports and yoga. Each year annual sport is held in winter season. Students take part in many sports.
Cultural Functions
Cultural training: Cultural training is given to the students by trained teachers. Dance, song, music, drama, recitation, good handwriting are also taught to the students with great care. Annual celebration is held each year. In this celebration all kinds of sports, music, dance, drama, recitation, drawing, jokes telling competitions take place. Extra cultural programs are held at the time of Saraswati Puja in the end of the year.
Excursions and Other activities
Excursion: As they are small kids and cannot go far away from school, sometimes they are taken to the nearby park for change. Other activities: Special attention has been given to the development of soft skills in the students like memorizing power, witnessing and narration of an event, storytelling capacity etc. Art, painting, clay modeling, singing, drawing and habit of cleanliness are also emphasized. Teachers are always busy for the all round development of the students and molding the life and character of the students for the years to come. We believe in Swami Vivekananda’s teaching that, “Stick to the truth and you must succeed maybe slowly but surely.”
